More details about MacPlasmap Pro
Built from a core set of proven features in MacPlasmap v2.1, the Pro version extends the function of the program far beyond that of plasmid drawing. It still retains the easy of use and intuitiveness that allow you to make efficient use of your biological insights.
Feature highlights
Plasmid map drawing
- Create maps with or without sequence
- Maps from DNA or protein sequence
- Multiple maps, multiple pages per document
- Add features manually or automatically from restriction site scanning or feature parsing
- Circular and linear maps, map rotation
- Map rulers, symbols, and interactive positioning
- Drawing objects and floating text
- Copy/paste features. Insert/delete fragments
Cloning
The clone constructor employs a visual, intuitive approach for clone designing and recording that resembles closely to actual cloning process. You define (isolate) insert and vector fragments, and join them to create recombinant molecules. Sequence and features are joined automatically. Cloning steps are recorded in the editable map note. Multiple maps in your cloning projects can be placed in the same document for easy management.
- Easy, intuitive approach
- Automatic tracking of sequences and features
- Fill-in or chew-back of fragments ends (partial modification supported)
- Supports 'three-fragemnt' ligation
- Map duplication and copy/paste between windows
- Automatic recording in map notes
- Cloning on either sequence or map level
- Finding compatible sites
Restriction site mapping
- Versatile restriction site reporting
- Powerful enzyme filters
- Compssite listing of sites, sequence, features, and translations
- Seamless integration with vector maps
- Editable enzyme library
DNA sequence analysis
- Restriction mapping, digestion, and cloning
- Translation of from features or sequence
- Open reading frame identification
- Sequence editing and conversion
- Subsequence searching
Protein sequence analysis
- Protein plot directly from features or sequence
- Hydrophobicity/Hydrophilicity
- Hydrophobic moment
- Helical wheel and helical net
- Composition, MW, pI
- Integration with vector mapping
Gel simulation
- Easy manipulation and integration with maps
- Re-digestion on lane for banding patterns
- Text description of gel patterns
Text and seuence editing
- Integrated styled text editor for storing and annotation results
- Sequence editing reflected on the map
File import/export
- Import all commom flat file formats (ASCII, GenBank, EMBL, FASTA, GCG, SwissPort, etc.)
- Import DNA Strider, MacVector, GeneWorks, DNA Star, and GCK Constructs
- Export text and PICT
File searching
- Search files in folders based on map or features
High-quality presentation
- Presentation quality graphics output
- Multi-page document for project management
Sample screen snapshots
(The above screen snapshot reflects the quality of screen image, not the final printout which is of much higher resolution).
Below is an example of the built-in sequence editor. Changes made in the editor are updated on the graphic map in the map window, and vise versa.
This is an example of listing restriction sites, features, and translations together with DNA sequences.
Helical wheel plot from protein sequences, one of the protein plotting functions. Plots can be generated from DNA map elements such as CDSes and ORFs.
Hydrophobic moment plot of a protein fragment, another example of protein plot.
